Is the 30" long luggage restriction as strict as it sounds? Our suitcases measure 32" long.

I never saw anyone measure the suitcases. I'm sure that will be fine. They are strict about the one suitcase rule and no wheels on the carryon.

I imagined standing on the sidewalk as they reject me and my suitcase  Did you use the bag they sent you? They sent my daughters back packs, yet many recommend not using a backpack for security reasons. We have 3 weeks to go, and I am getting really excited!

I did not use the bag they sent me. I used the bag that I used as a carryon for the plane. It did not fit over the seat on the coach but it fit easily under the seat in front of me.We just used the over the seat storage for jackets and some shopping. It is a very small area My carryon is one of those small totes. It's called a 16 inch tote.About the size of a large purse.
The back packs are fine that they sent the kids. Great for jacket. water, umbrella, guide book etc. Just don't carry anything valuable in there like camera, credit cards, ATM card, money, passport etc as they are to easy for pickpockets to get to.The camera should be attached to you on a string around the neck and the other things should be in a waist or neck pouch under your clothes. Only carry enough cash in your pocket that you will need for the day. If you need to get a credit card out do it someplace private.

Luggage

We just returned from out Globus tour in England and Ireland. They don't measure the one suitcase that you are allowed. We used a larger carry on on the plane, but used the Globus bag on the bus. There isn't that much foot room on the bus and the Globus bag held more that I thought it would. It was also easier to carry around with us. It gave us the things we needed on a daily basis. We could put our jackets in the overhead area. The overhead space is really small and only used for jackets; umbrellas and light weight purchases. Have a great time, we loved our trip. :)

If you don't want to advertise that you are on a Globus tour by carrying "their" bag, we found the name comes off rather easily since it is stitched on.. .. ..at least ours was, but didn't take it off till we got home! I thought it was a good size for carrying things around each day.
