Highlights of Britain & Ireland

Thanks to comments on this site.. ..My mom and myself are now looking at a trip to Britain and Ireland. We are torn between the one offered by Globus and the other offered by Insight. We have checked out reviews of the hotels from both trips and those on the Globus tour have horrible reviews. Has anyone been on the Insight Britain & Ireland Explorer tour. Is the trip suitable for a 78 year old woman and how were the hotels? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The Highlights of Britian and Ireland is the same tour I took for my first trip to Europe. I had no problems with the hotels. They were all fine although some were located away from city centre.That is really the only negative I could say about them.If you want old charm though these hotels are not charming but rather the type that serves business travelers.They were all near public transportation if you wanted to go out on your own. On the days that are 1 night stops you will not have time to go anywhere on your own. The tour is a good way to see alot. There is quite a bit of bus time which is actually pleasant and gives you a chance to relax and see things at the same time.
Insight has a web site that has a message board attached to it where I am sure you will be able to get more information on their tours. THe only thing I have noticed about their boards and also been told is if anyone has anything negative to say it is deleted off their message boards. www.insightvacations.com. . Than click on the message board link. I think you have to register to post on it. I have heard some very good things about Insight. It has been said that the coaches have more room then any other tour company and that the hotels are better located. I have never toured with them but might some daay although I have always been happy with Globus. If you do a search on here there are some posts that compare Globus,Insight and Trafalgar.
