My wife and I are taking my spry 75 year old mother on a trip to Europe in March 2007. This will be the first time in Europe for any of us. I'm just looking for feedback from people who have used Globus for tours and especially anyone who has taken this tour. We start in Paris and end in Amderstam. Thanks in advance for any helpful advice for packing, what to see, how much money to bring, bus info, hotel info, addt'l MUST SEE places, etc. We are EXCITED and are spending 5-years worth of savings.. ..so we are hoping to get the most out of it.. .. ..probably never be able to get back to Europe again.

johnmoy1, make the most of your trip to Europe and enjoy. With regareds to packing, take half of the clothes you think you will need and twice the amount of money you think you need. Optional tours can approach 1000 Euros for 3 people. Globus is a good company as we have taken 2 tours with them. On our first tour, the tour director was lousy, but Globus more than made up for it on our 2nd tour with them.

Thanks for the reply. We'll plan acxcordingly. Anotehr question:
Looks like we are going to arrange our own air travel. Do you or anyone have an idea on what transfer will cost for 3 from Paris airport to hotel? Just find a cab? Also, any idea on what we can expect for weather in Paris, Italy, Germany, Amsterdam in late-March?

I would just take a cab. The airport is fairly close to Central Paris. We were in Europe in March / April 2002 and also March / April 2002. The temperatures ranged from the mid-fifties (Austria) to the low seventies (Southern Spain). . Not much rain then either. We were in Europe a total of 16 days on the 2 trips and I don't recall the temperature falling below freezing on any of the nights.

I don't know about the cabs from the airport, but be advised that the cabs in Paris wouldn't allow anyone in front seat so were 3 maximum passengers. The cars are not all that large, so this could be a very uncomfortable ride.

Not to worry, Big Al. There are van taxis readily available. You might be charged 2 euros for the extra luggage.
