Mex Gov Protects Resort That Killed Child

Mex Gov Protects Resort That Killed Child

Postby sharlene » Sat Nov 06, 2004 10:49 am

It is crystal clear, Brent Midlock is violently killed because the Grand Xcaret was too careless to put protective coverings over open pipes. In the US it would be manslaughter, but not in Mexico--the government says the hotel was negligent, but not guilty of killing Brent. Now any one with an ounce of logic has to deduce that this is the most ridiculous thing one has ever heard.
Mexico wants our tourism dollars, but disregards an innocent childs life???
Something sounds terribly wrong between this Xcaret resort and the government. There should be distinct repercussions for both. Where is the US in helping this poor family? This is a case that we should all support - you can offer your support for Brent, family and friends by calling 1-800-Montel 2. Justice needs to prevail!!

Brent Midlock

I can't understand by everything that I have read why the Grand Xcaret just doesn't admit it was their fault. My God, he was only 8!! How could you ever get over loosing your child in such a hideous manner, and then the resort and the Mex Gov playing some game of no body did anything wrong.
Except for the fact they killed a child in their 1st year of business.

Grand Xcaret

To me it demonstrates a culture that I do not understand. It certainly sounds like this resort has no regard for human life or safety. I wonder how many other incidents they have encountered? fI bet it would be frightening to know the truth, but you would never get it from that resort.

RIVIERA MAYA CONSIDER THE LACK OF SAFETY CONSEQUENCES

Postby philip » Fri Nov 19, 2004 6:30 pm

The Riviera Maya attempts to vigorosly promote their 3rd world mentality with high prices, and attrative resorts, but when you read the sick story of a little boy being killed by the Xcaret, and seemingly walking away ---that is repulsive!!
For the countries that are not in the 3rd world mentality.. .. .. .. .. ..well let me say that we need to demonstrate to them that their corrupt ways will not be tolerated by visiting them. Once their revenue begins to fall they will have to change their ways in order to survive.

8 YEAR OLD KILLED BY RESORT NEGLIGENCE

Postby Thomas » Sat Nov 27, 2004 10:56 am

ANYONE THINKING OF MEXICAN RIVIERA???THINK TWICE

How did 8 year old Brent Midlock vanish from the Occidental Grand Xcaret?
Only to be found dead after 20 hours of not finding him----management knew where he was ,but decided that his family did not need to know.
They removed Brent from their uncovered 12" drain pipe that was 2 1/2 inches smaller than the shoulder width of Brent. It pulled him in 10 feet from behind. Resort officials allowed the little boy to stay in the pipes, and decided to remove under the cover of darkness. The Mexican Government investigated the matter only to determine that the Grand Xcaret was negligent. A bright, happy, healthy child???That is manslaughter.. ..a 5* resort that has 12 inch pipe in a swimming pool? First of all, that is not in compliance with any safety standards, and then not to have protected coverings bolted on is absolutely unbelievable.

The Grand Xcaret owned by the Occidental Corporation is claiming no wrong doing. If that is the case why is Brent Midlock dead. If Mexico wants to build up the Riviera Maya they may want to consider enforcing regard for safety and life. More details www.brentmidlock.com google brent midlock

Senseless Death at Occidental Grand Xcaret

Postby samantha » Tue Dec 21, 2004 10:21 am

First of all my family wants to thank everyone who is posting about the tragedy at the Grand Xcaret. There are many incidents that take place in Mexico and are hidden due to the Mexican Tourism Industry placing no accountability on Corporation and the Resorts they build. They need to have a standard of safety and accountability.

We were thinking of Spring vacation with our children, and with all the places in the world Mexico is off of our list. Because of people taking a social, moral, and ethical responsibility to inform readers of such senseless life/death altering events which allowed us to make an informed decision.
Our hearts go out to all the families who have had children die at the hands of any resorts' incompetence. We will keep you and your deceased children in our thoughts.
