I have not taken the tour, but I live in California and have been to every place the tour goes. In the short time you have in Los Angeles places like Disneyland (30 miles south of LA) will take the entire day but if you have never been then it is worth the $45 entry fee. Universal Studios is an all day thing (in LA) and of course we have a huge variety of neighborhoods like West Hollywood where all the freaks/faries/dykes/etc. hang out, mostly good people who have exersize their freedom of expression. Venice Beach Muscle men / Perfect bodies on skates street perfomers you name it and of course our Star areas like Beverly Hills, pick what you really want before you arrive because traffic in LA can be very SLOW so plan ahead.
Scottsdale is quite nice for a Desert city, enjoy the scenery but I would not personally take the Optional there, in Sedona it is even more Majestic and colorful (still Desert though) and then throuh some beautiful evergreen covered Mtn on the way to the Grand Canyon an Incredible sight which must be seen, the Helicoptor Optional would be a good choice if you like Incredible Scenery, they take you down and through the Canyon for unbeliveable views.
Las Vegas is a 24hr Party town it NEVER closes, take advantage of it! Downtown Vegas has a Lightshow 3-4 times a night Free, Book your Own show instead of the optional (easy to do online). . The Strip is a combo of walking and taking tram/monorails/lifts going from place to place and a big part of the Vegas experiance. Las Vegas is set up for Adults & Kids to have fun anytime they want, dont bother with you watch just go out and do it all in Vegas.
Mammoth is our Ski Resort (1 of many in area) and is quite nice, but pale in comparison to the Breath taking sights of Yosemite (the Valley is beyond Words at least to me) make sure you have a lot of film for Yosemite.
Sonora through San Francisco is a scenic drive covering part of the Wine country and our very Clean Capital and hopefully some of our most scenic beaches. San Francisco has a lot to do , but you will only be able to do a few of the choose before you arrive what things are Must Doers to you. SF is everything from Fishermans Warf (not as good as when I lived there in the 70's) maybe a quick visit and then on to Picadilly square or a trip down Lombardo (Curved road) or a Trolly ride. If you visit the "Live Sex" district keep in mind they mean what they say and it is a seedy part of SF (but can have it's entertainment value) try visiting Chinatown for a unique time and for food eat at as many different types as you can they have it ALL in SF. Hope this helps some
