Sorrento & the Amalfi Coast day trip

What is the best way to get from Sorrento to Positano & Amalfi and return.
Are there more options than the coast road?
What is there to see & do in Positano & Amalfi for 1 day.

We do like walking, scenery and dining!

There is local (not toursit coach) bus and ferry from sorrento to amalfi. If you go to salerno you can take train back to sorrento but inland not on coast.

Thankyou, I found out theer is a passenger ferry too so will consider that then the bus back along the coast.
