help on discounted pricing

help on discounted pricing

Postby guest » Sat Nov 20, 2004 1:00 am

I put down a deposit for my trip to sandals grande in may 2005. I booked at the 25% off promo. 2 weeks later i see 40% off at the regency, which I origininally wanted but couldn't afford. Will my travel agent allow me to change destinations for the new price at the regency? Will I be charged fees? I will be paying so much I think I should get the best value. I could go with another agent but this agent claims $100 per person cancelation fee . . And after all this, what if the grande goes on sale in the next few months- I don't know what to do. Please help!

I had booked Sandals Montego Bay for Feb. Then, the deal for 50% off Whitehouse came up about a week later. I was allowed to change my Sandals destination with no cost penalty. I don't know if this was a Sandals policy or the policy of my ta.

Also, you can never predict the future so, I would grab the best deal now and don't look back.

Last thing is, some insurances on vacations allow you to cancel for any reason without penalty. If you have insurance, you could look into this.

Hope some of this helps.

i too changed from beaches grande sport to sandals dunn's river last january. but the problem with that and max's story is those four resorts are all on the jamaican island. for you to change to SRB will involve changing your plane ticket. you can ask and i imagine they won't charge you to change sandals resorts, but the change in air tickets could cost a bunch. we tried to change air for our last sandals vacation (just times, not locations) and it was going to cost us $150 pp. i'd stick with the grande anyway. it's the newest sandals resort out there (until whitehouse opens) and you're probably going to be happy there just as much. besides, st. lucia is the most beautiful island (from what i hear) of the sandals chains. something to think about.

Well, I got my answers. My agent switched me from the Grande to the Regency for a $30 deviation fee he says the airline charges. But in return I get a honeymmon sunset suite with pool (#3 building on the bluff) and saved myself a few hundred dollars. I got an incredible value along with an upgrade. Even if the Grande goes on sale at 40% I would rather stay on the bluff than save any more money. I just hope the experience will match the room.

Which Sandals Grande were you booked to begin with, St.Lucia or Ocho Rios? Did you change your dates of departure or arrival?

I was booked at the St. Lucian Grande. I didn't change anything except the hotel so I'm sure the fee is not airport related. The agent is just trying to get a few dollars from me. By the way , my fiance informed me it is now down to a $15 dollar fee. Maybe he is charging me a pain in the ass fee.
