I worked on Silversea (Silver Wind and Cloud) as photographer, but don't
worry they dont have photographers on-board anymore. I have worked on 14
ships in the last 10 years and Silversea was by far the best line. As an all
inclusive all exclusive cruiseline you will be cruising with the upper-crust
of guests and as a small ship, the Cloud is like a family rather than a
crowd. The suites are really spacious with en-suite marbled bathrooms,
balconies and 24 hour room service. The itinery to NZ is great though watch
out if your cruise takes you across the Tasman Sea to Oz as it can be a bit
rough to say the least. Silversea used to and I assume still do, offer a
complimentary tour called the Silversea Experience whereby you are invited
to take part in a tour that sums up the culture of your itinery. This
includes food/dancing and rubbing noses with the locals (quite literaly in
New Zealand!). . If you are below 35 its not the line for you unless you
prefer cruising with the older clientelle whom on the most part have cruised
many times before. The night-life is quiet (does have a casino and bars (all
drinks included in cruise fare!) and singers/dancers/entertainers). . Some
cruises have National Geographic lecturers aboard making very interesting
relevant talks to marry the itinery. If you are over 35 and enjoy a quality
product with 100% service you will not find any better other than the Silver
Wind of course. I would say that though as I worked 4 years on the Wind as
part of the family despite being that hated of creatures, the ship's
photographer. PS learn a few Italian phrases as the Captain appreciates
guests chatting to him in his own language.
Right now I am gonna go back to finishing my Yorkshire Puds and pint of
Yorkshire Bitter (yes I live in Yorkshire, England) and wait for Silversea
to send me my commission for this fantastic piece of advertising, hee hee.
Honestly though, you will have a great cruise if you choose Silversea.
Ciao for now,
Carlos.
