Ergife Palace Hotel in Rome - DON'T STAY HERE

Postby Supertraveler » Thu Jun 16, 2005 4:44 am

I was with a group of tourists, 52 of us. The Ergife Palace Hotel gave us substandard rooms. The rooms were dirty, wallcoverings falling off the walls and dirty. Wires hanging from the ceiling, no floor covering, charged to use the pool, poor location. What you save in the location you pay in transportation to and from the hotel THE SERVICE.. ..was the pits. No customer service at all.. ..we were just numbers to them. Not a friendly face in the crowd.. ..the bar charged us 9Euro for a mixed drink. That's almost 12 US dollars per drink. Substandard rooms, horrible service, terrible breakfast.. .. . a pool that costs.. .. .
horrid location, no restaurants nearby. DON'T STAY HERE!

My husband and I are staying at the Ergife Hotel in September for 3 nights on a Trafalgar Tour. If this place is so bad why would Trafalgar take us there? Is there anyone who has had a good experience. I have been reading the message board for a while and there has been quite a few mixed reports about this place :( . .

Because Trafalgar gets a good rate from them. I stayed in one terrible hotel on my Trafalgar tour, too. On most tours, there's at least one yucky hotel.

We have booked a tour from Paris to Rome. We had no choice of the place to stay in Rome - it was included in the tour. Just one good review would be good!!!

I actually just got back from the Viva Italia tour and stayed here. It was not bad. I say its roughly about 2.5 stars and the rooms aren't that bad as in the photo's. They are all newer now.

We stayed at the Ergife Palace this past May (06) . . We had read the reviews here before we went and were dreading staying there. We didn't have a choice because we were on an organised tour, but we found the hotel much better than expected. Although certainly not a top class hotel, the rooms were comfortable and clean, the desk was very helpful and the food good (we only had breakfast). . It was obvious that some work, at least, had been done to improve the standard of the room.
