Tours to spain

Postby capecodd » Fri Jun 17, 2005 10:14 am

I'm planning a trip to Spain next month with my teenage daughter for a "mother-daughter" trip and can't make up my mind which tour to take. I'm leaning towards Globus but now need to decide between Spectacular Spain,Spain at Leisure,Spanish Fiesta, and Iberian Vacation. If I went with the shortest trip I might be apt to combine it with a one week stay in Lisbon Portugal at a Timeshare. Would it be better to just concentrate on seeing Spain and taking the longer tour? Any comments on these tours? My daughter is an excellent traveler but has never been abroad and I want it to be very special to her. I've been to various countries but never to Spain.(I'd actually prefer taking her somewhere I've been but she has her heart set on Spain). . Any ideas welcome!!!I'm dragging my feet and need to get on this. :)

Spanish fiesta

The wife and I did Spanish Fiesta this past Oct/Nov. Had a great time, hotels were great so was the tour guide. Only problem we had was dinner one night (I enjoyed it but the wife didn't). . It was a duck dinner that I enjoyed. We didn't know until after dinner was served that they could have cooked up some fish if we wanted. Other than that, I recommend comfy shoes as we did tons of walking sightseeing.

My vote would be concentrate on ONE country . .. .. . especially if there;s a possibility that you migh return to the area, then do Portugal.

Have you looked at Insight Vacations tour?

Yes, I 've just looked through the Insight tours and they look interesting also. I'm still leaning towards Globus. I'd love to just go on my own and travel by train etc. but I feel I've waited too long to get it all together.Has anyone taken the Iberian Vacation by Globus? That too looks interesting.I don't want to miss Barcelona so if the tour doesn't include it I'll have to add it on.Any thoughts??Thanks :)

well, my sister and i are going on spanish fiesta (sept 4, come join us! we're early 30s, so we''re on the younger side for globus.. ..your daughter will be back in school though, probably). .
our decision to do this was based on deciding that it was better to concentrate on one country (hence eliminating portugal) and we really wanted to hit barcelona (thus eliminating most of the other globus spain trips). . other other considered tour was globus spain at leisure, but we decided it might bea little too much leisure, and after i studied the tours, i decided i didn't want to dela with that, since we'd just take optionals, which would add a lot to the expense. especially after i realized the morocco optional is most likely going shopping, not seeing part of morrocco.
hope this helps!

Thanks for the replies. I've booked my trip and hope I don't start second guessing myself. We are going on the Iberian Trip and I'm arriving in Madrid two days before the start of the tour so that we will have abit more time in Madrid and also be fresh for the start of the tour. Hey, I would have loved to have joined the two of you in Sept. on Spanish Fiesta, I'm sure you'll have a great time. I'll let everyone know how we enjoy the tour when we return in Aug. Thanks again.
