italy mosaic Dec 27?

Postby terryjung » Fri Dec 17, 2004 6:01 pm

:?:

I'm trying to pack my luggage for my Italy mosaic vacation which starts on
Dec 28. I don't know what the weather is like over there, and I don't know if I should bring my thermal or should I just bring a light jacket?

Also. How far is the Hotel in Rome to the Leonardo di caprio airport. oops, da vinci airport? Should I take a taxi or does Rome have a subway?

Thanks
Terry

Italy in December/January

Postby Happeeface » Sat Apr 09, 2005 10:18 am

You've been back a long time! I hope you enjoyed the tour!

For others who might be going to Italy in December--take your warm coat! I went on the Italy Mosaic tour two years ago March/April and usually needed a ligher jacket. I was near Rome and Sorrento again a couple of weeks ago and it was cold in both places. It was weird seeing the lemons and oranges hanging from the trees in such cold weather in Sorrento. (It was down jacket weather--or fur)

Globus usually picks tour members up at the airport upon arrival and takes them back to the airport for departure. Unless you were a special case, you don't need to worry about getting to and from the airport.

Rome does have a subway, but watch your pockets and/or purse. Be careful at crowded tourist attractions too. Our tour guide always warned us when we had to be especially careful.

In case someone else does an Italy tour with Globus and does their own arrival before the starting day or own departure after the last day, plan on paying 70 euros each way to and from the airport. It is approximately 45 minutes to downtown Rome with no traffice.

There is no subway to the airport that I know of.

Regarding the weather, any online weather website can provide detailed information. The tour will go, rain or shine, so bring umbrellas, raincoats, etc.. .. . otherwise you'll be cold and miserable on long outdoor walks.
