How often do hotels listed on itinerary get changed?

How often do hotels listed on itinerary get changed?

Postby JC Butterfly » Wed Feb 20, 2008 11:27 am

I have a bit of a dilemma. I am arriving prior to my Globus tour 1 night early and would like to book my stay at the Globus hotel of arrival. Unfortunately, Globus direct is unable to do this as it is a "blackout" date for them.

So, this if for the La France tour and the hotel is supposed to be the Novotel Paris Tour Eiffel. There is availability with the hotel if I book direct from them, but to get the best rate I would need to prepay them the full amount of the one night stay.

So, how likely is it that my tour will stay at this hotel? When would that be finalized? Like, when I get my documents would it be pretty "final" at that point? Is there a way to find out what the other "backup" hotels would be?

I just want to know that if I book this hotel and for some reason Globus doesn't stay there, that it would be reasonably easy to get to the correct hotel.

Thanks

I have had them change a hotel while traveling in an emergency but it would be very unlikely they would change the arrival hotel as Globus actually has offices set up in all their arrival hotels. By the way I never stay in the arrival hotel for my pretour days as Globus wants way to much money for those hotels. All the major citiies in Europe have many choices of public transportation or taxis. In Budapest last summer we were able to walk to the Globus hotel from our 3 day pretour hotel. It was only about 2 blocks away.Check out venere dot com for maps of locations of various hotels.Tripadvisor is also a good source

In my Globus catalog is a list of all the hotels they use in each city.
My catalog also shows the hotel as Novotel Paris Tour Eiffel for the La France tour.I really think you'll be fine staying there if you want to.Your right in that you will get a better price not booking thru Globus.

Thanks for the advice.

I guess since it is only 1 night early, I would rather stay at the Globus hotel. One less time to unpack and repack, would just feel a bit more "restful" to me.

I know Tripadvisor gives it mixed reviews (the Novotel) but I think I am willing to pay a bit more in cost to save some stress of first time travel.

I did not realize they had offices set up at the hotel. I guess, maybe I shouldn't assume but would I be able to just stay in the same room? Would I just mention at check in I am there with the Globus group?

The Novotel Hotel in Paris is okay.. ..a great location with the Eiffel Tower just outside the door. However, it was the only place any of our group had a problem. He went to the gym and left his wallet in his room.. ..when he got back, someone had entered and taken things out. Sounds like they must have known he was in the gym, so just be careful about what you leave in your room! I'm sure they will let you stay in the same room when your tour starts. It is a busy hotel.. ..a lot of airline crews stay there!
