Moulin Rouge

Moulin Rouge

Postby mangoeater » Mon Aug 14, 2006 10:35 am

We will be on the Essential Europe Tour in early September and we are determined to see visit the Moulin Rouge even though it is not being offered as an Optional. We are interested in the dress code for the MR - hopefully smart casual is ok and no need for a sport coat and tie. The last time we were in Paris, we attended the cabaret La Nouvelle Eve and our group went smart casual as per our tour guide. Any comments on the dress code and maybe some suggestions on how to book it in Paris would be very much appreciated. Thank You.

We did Essential Europe in July and enjoyed it immensely. Wifey and I did almost all the optionals except the nightshow in London. I think every one of them was a great value.

The Moulin Rouge was cancelled due to lack of participation. However, we went to the concierge at the Holiday Inn Republique, where we stayed, and he got us and two more couples of our group helped us get tickets for the show. It was a great show, but the food wasn't that good. It was slightly more expensive than what was offered initially by Globus, but the difference was small (less than $10 per person). .

Good luck and bon voyage.

We dressed up what we think is smart casual. There were people in jackets and tie, but I think smart casual is okay.

Good luck and bon voyage.

We made our show reservations through the conceirge at the Holiday Inn Republique . . Book early if you can. We booked on our arrival and the only show time available was the 11 pm. We were determined to go and are so happy that we did - it was fantastic. The Moulin Rouge is a 1000 times better than the one being offered as an Optional. We used Taxis both ways.

Please keep in mind that the Moulin Rouge is not located in a very nice area of Paris so be on guard and mind your purses and wallets.

Moulin Rouge

I went to Moulin Rouge on Monday night. Our tour was supposed to go to La Nouvelle Eve, but our tour director got us to Moulin Rouge. There was a couple that booked there own tickets to Moulin Rouge ahead of time. They actually ended up with better seats and were able to select their dinner whereas our meal was preselected. You do need to dress nicely. A coat and tie aren't required, but you'll want to be on the dressier side.

Make sure you take a taxi to the Moulin Rouge instead of walking like we did. I kept my hand on my wallet all the time.
