From the Shannon to the Thames

We booked this tour for the end of June. Any suggestions on what to pack; what optionals to take or not take; opinions on the hotels, food, etc. ; highlights of the tour???

We went on the Best of Italy tour last summer and had an outstanding time. I'm wondering if the tour of the United Kingdom will be as enjoyable. My husband and I are in our early 50's.
