Italy in March

Traveled in Italy the first two weeks of March this past year. The temperatures were colder than the 30 year average and were in the 30 F and 40 F range most of the time. I believe you can check historic records of temperatures in any of the cities you will be visiting but remember this will only be a guide. The 30's and 40's we had should have been 50's. We had a couple of 40 degree days with rain in Rome. It did not stop us from walking the streets and enjoying the city.

I went to Rome, Florence, and Venice last March. Venice was the coldest - jacket and gloves needed, especially at night (probably down to 40). . Rome and Florence I just wore a light jacket and jeans. I did have a small umbrella just in case but didnt' need it. When we were in Rome St. Peter's Square at noon it was sunny and warm enough for just a t-shirt while in the sun, but I'm glad I had my light jacket. I was never really really cold on the trip and I live in Miami. I found the spring temps to be refreshing.

PS. No one wore shorts - too cold.
