Italy at Leisure

Has anyone gone on Globus Italy at Leisure Tour. I'm going in November with my husband for our 30th anniversary. First trip to Europe! Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Europe

I am browsing this site and keep running into your messages, for they jump out at me (probably because I'm 30 too and going to Europe with your husband will be such a blast for you!)
Be prepared for one of the most amazing experiences of your life. Since we went to Europe the first time, we keep returning and each time is as amazing as the last.
I enjoyed Europe so much more when I brushed up on art history and military history before I went. It meant more for me to see the Tower of London when I knew who was imprisoned there and why. Looking at amazing works of art in a book prior to going made seeing it in person that much more amazing. Since you are going to Italy, the book "The Rise and Fall of the Medici" will give you great insight to renaissance Italian history.
I also like to read travel guides before I go. Eyewitness Travel Guides are particularly good ones, for they have color pictures and good information regarding train stops, food, prices etc.
Sure things can be touristy and expensive. You may encounter some of the cliches that people warn you about when you are in another country, but that is half the fun. Confidence, courtesy and common sense will never steer you wrong! Have a blast!

thanks for the feedback. We're counting down the months (days) to our trip.

Good suggestion to read up on the italian history. I'm going to take some books out of the library, and have been browsing around on line to the various sites we're going to.

Any suggestions on what to pack? We're going in November, so the weather won't be too warm. But how casual/dressy should we pack?

I'm hoping this will be the first of several trips to Europe in the coming years (now that the last of our kids will be graduating college in June of 2006 and our daughter will get married that same month). .

Thanks again. Susan
