Anyone been on the Rocky Mountaineer trip cause i've heard great things about it and i wanted to go before xmas can anyone tell me if its worth it?

you will be very happy with red leaf as well. The trip to Banff is nice but makes for a longer day but is very scenic. The other route to Jasper is nice also and that the one I've been on. Look at some of the big tour operators as most do this tour in conjunction with sightseeing in Banff, Jasper, Vancouver and Victoria and you will have a very good time.
