SOR Vacation Update

Postby tkick » Tue May 10, 2005 11:34 am

Just got back from my vacation at SOR. I will say I did hear a lot of bad reports about previous visists but I beg to differ. Yes, the bus ride was a little long and with the road construction, that didn't help much. Once we got to the resort, it took about 15 minutes for them to check us into to our room. We stayed on the Riviera side in the Bamboo Grove Building and completely loved our room. We tried just about every restuarant and enjoyed the Manor Restuarant on the Manor side of the resort . . There were others that were good, some more than others. The water sports were wonderful. In addition to the vacation, my best friend got married there and the staff at Sandals did a great job with the wedding (planning, ceremony, pictures, etc.) If I could say anything bad about SOR that would be selection of seafood choices there. We ended up going off the resort to a local spot for a very delicious lobster and conch dinner by the beach. We also did the dunn's river party cruise and had a very good time. They took you out on this party boat, allowed you to snorkle and then a tour of the dunn's river falls. Definitely worth $65.00. The activities on the resort were a lot. One night, i won the Jamaican Dance Hall Queen Contest. My prize a bottle of Rum and some Blue Mountain Coffee. If anyone does not know or love Bob Marley, you definitely will after this trip. I still hear Buffalo Soldier in my sleep. (smile) We are already booking our trip for next year. Same time and same location.

Glad you had a good time! It is nice to read a good report. I do think a lot of the complaints came with those who were there when they were still doing the construction.

Nice trip report, glad you had a good time.

On the seafood - keep in mind that the Jamaican lobster season is CLOSED from April 1st to June 30. I'm sure that's why you didn't find any at SOR. Probably caught illegally at the beach restaurant (doubt they would have had them shipped in from out of the country). .
