From the news reports I have heard the Captian decided to chance sailing into the storm in order to get some "special guests" to the next port by the itenarary time. It was a very poor decision on his part and NCL executives are not happy with his decision, I am sure NCL will not allow that to happen ever again. About the ship itself, I cannot help as I have not been on it. Hope this helps (or at least makes you feel better about your cruise.. ..Hope you have a great time)

Norwegian Dawn

You can't blame Captain Niklas Peterstam for the Accident on the Norwegian Dawn, the Atlantic can be very rough and you do run into storms from time too time, too blame the Captain is wrong, he was not operating the ship at a high speed, 4 knots is not fast, learn the facts, you will run into storms, the Captain has NO control over the weather, as for that stupid Jack Ass who is planing too sue NCL, for ruining his honey moon NCL has no control over the weather, this guy sounds like he is the type too sue if he went into a burger king and ordered a whopper, and got a hamburger maybe i will sue him for hearing him whine and bitch about it GROW UP!!

In response to booking on the Dawn. I was there on the Dawn during the storm, and although it was scary, I place no blame on Captain Nicolas Peterstam. I thank him for getting us home safe, and thank god I was on One of the biggest ships at sea. I intend on cruising on the Dawn again in August with a large amount of my family, and am very much looking forward to it. i feel the staff and crew, who went through the same scary ordeal with professionaliism and kept up there smiles deserves to be applauded instead of ridiculed. That was my second time on that ship and I happen to think the ship is beautiful, and have no complaints about service etc. I count myself lucky to be able to go on such a wonderful, stress free vacation, and just relax and have fun. Some people just don't know how to enjoy life, and find something to complain about always. As for the sea, if you have been alive long enough to know, the sea is unpredictable to say the least. If we could always predict everything then why are there tragic things that have to do with nature always happening? Tsunami ring a belll? Don't get me wrong, I was scared while we were in the storm, but I'm here to tell the story, and heck it was a vacation of a lifetime!!! I'll always have this story to tell. I'll be back!!

So to end, Andrea book and your cruise and have fun!!! What's the chance of that happening again?

dawn

Hi, I was on the Dawn the week of the storm and the "freak" wave. I cant explain in words how terrible it was. I have sailed on the Norwegian Dawn before and had a great time. This time, storm aside it was horrible. The staff could care less. They changed the stops. They were all about the money from the door. Then the storm came to make matters worse. They acted as if nothing was happening, meanwhile people were in lifejackets screaming, they wanted to jump because they thought it was better than being on the ship. I have been on many cruises & was actually in another big storm once before, but the way the NCL line acted was crazy. NEVER AGAIN> I will cruise again, but with COSTA or Celebrity, which I might add was like being treated like royalty. I felt like I was cattle on the dawn. Listen people, dont do it to yourself, stay off the Dawn!!!!!!!! Cruiseing is great, this ship would ruin your views on taking a cruise.

Good morning,

I was on Norwegian Dawn during President's Week in February 2005 and had a marvelous time. We did not experience what others did during that "scary moment in time" and we were on Deck 10. I was on Celebrity's Century a few years ago, having left the Bahamas and experienced a very bad storm where the ship was leaning while the captain turned it away from the storm. You see, these things happen and we have no control over them. Continue to keep your faith in God and He will work things out for you. What I saw on TV from a guest's video tape, it was something-like a "water spout" or whatever you would call it on water but would be a tornado on land, I think. I never heard mentioned that the captain went directly into the storm to take guets to the next port, or what the case might be. When unfortunate incidents happen on the water, it's usually a good thing to keep calm, don't panic and listen to the instructions of those who are trained in situations of that nature. The Dawn was my 29th cruise and I love every minute I "get on board" any cruise ship. Had rough weather coming from The Bahamas on Carnival's Legend in September 2003, due to Hurricane Isabella. Our itinerary had to change but we had a wonderful time and even though the water was rough, we knew that it could not be helped, we did not go into a "blame mode." Once you know these things can happen and we are almost into Hurricane Season, enjoy yourself and everything will work out fine.

The Dawn is a beautiful ship and the employees were wonderful - friendly and very helpful. I love its "free style" dining.. ..take your pick of the different restaurants, etc. I will recommend this ship to anyone.. ..good for families, same as the other ship in other cruise lines.

Whatever cruise you take on whatever cruise line, have a wonderful time.
