another said it was disappointing.. .. .

some say not to do the optional gondola trip with globus but to try to do it on ur own . .. .. .

Gondala rides

My God, they must've taken your friend out to sea!! My hubby and I took a gondala ride when we were there at Christmas time and so we pretty much had all the canals to ourselves - which was magnificent. The gondalier covered us up with blankets and we cuddled up and he took photo's of us so it was all very romantic. Yes, its expensive but its a once in a lifetime thing that you just HAVE to do where you're in Venice. I've heard a few people comment on the smells, etc in the summer months but we've only been there twice in the winter time when the queues are extra short, the hotels are half empty (as are the canals and streets) and the cost of things are half of what they are in summer.

The setting has to be right though for a gondala ride. My friend went with a tour and said there were about 10 of them crammed into one and it was all very rush-rush and not enjoyabe at all. Personally, I think its something you should do with your loved one only.

Happy Gondal-ing!!
Nicky
