Drinking in Greece

Bob,

I dont really think the Greeks care - afterall, they drink alcohol like its water. You get served up Ouzo with breakfast, lunch and dinner!! Just act responsibly and there shoudn't be a problem.

When my son was barely 17 and my daughter was 15, we went to the UK for a month and at first I ordered a pint for my son. When he showed he could be responsible (his first real drink, at least in front of Me), He had no problem ordering a pint with or without me there. Now my daughter of course wanted to just try 1 little sip (dang kids) "please Please just a sip", so we gave in (dang parents) , but she could not order a drink unless we gave the waiter a knowing Nod of the head, turns out she tried Irish coffe and wine twice and hated them (lucky parents). . Anyway I would save if you act responsible (don't drink and become a jerk) then you should have little or no problem being served a drink (or 2.. ..lol) at 17yo. Have fun be smart and Enjoy!

I forgot to say, If you get ripped and become a jerk then the hassles will by far outweigh the Buzz that got you there. There is a time and place for everything, so choose wisely and your vacation will be that much better!

I've been served beer at Greece since I was 12. The legal age is 16 or 18 but it's never enforced,so don't worry about it.

drinking age in Greece

The law states that it is illegal for anyone under the age of 17 to be in a bar or to purchase or consume alcohol unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

That is the law.

Hi me and my son are going to greece in October 2006 and we don't know which island to go to, which is the best one?
And if i am next to him is he allowed to purchase and drink beer?
I have checked on loads of sites and they say there is not a limit for anyone to purchase alcohol in shops and there is no enforced law for someone to consume alcohol in bars/restaurants.
He is 14.
