We were advised to choose Globus because of better locations of their hotels. However, I have found that their choices in Amsterdam, Vienna, Venice, & Rome (especially) and in Nice are quite a distance from tourist sites. We are going to waste alot of time on public transportation getting to our hotels after "leisure afternoon" on our own.

Does anyone know specifically how difficult it is to get from Mestre to Venice? How about the outlying hotel in Amsterdam? And most importantly, the hotel in Rome is far west in Pamphili. Can we get there via public transport without getting lost or having pickpockets getting to us on the buses?

I didn't expect to have to transport ourselves in the 2-night cities IF we didn't accept their Optionals. I thought the hotels would be within walking distances of "things to do". . Anyone have direct knowledge of Globus hotels in those 5 cities.

We stayed at the Visconti in Rome. You can walk to several places of interest. Very nice hotel. In Mestre,(The Plaza), right across the street was the train terminal to take you to Venice. We walked about 3/4 of a mile from the hotel to the main piazza in Mestre where all the locals hang out. Fantastic. Plenty of places to eat, drink and watch the people go by. We used money belts, but never felt threatened in anyway. Have a great trip.
