Traveling Europe Alone for Four Months

Traveling Europe Alone for Four Months

Postby Slyder22 » Mon Mar 21, 2005 11:41 am

I'm losing my job in a month and I feel as though I've lost sight of what it is that I really want. Somehow, I've convinced myself that the only way I can get back on track is to get away from everything and everyone that I know. So, I'm seriously considering traveling Europe on my own from June through Septmeber. I'm a 25 year old female who has never been to Europe. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I guess my biggest concerns are safety and budget. Thanks

4 months is a LONG time if you are dealing with strange language, customs and food. Could also be a great time.

Strongly suggest you hit a bookstore for a travel book for Europe and read a lot of it and see if it looks like fun or a chore.

It will be costly to travel in Europe due to decline of the dollar. And it will be crowded.

Good luck

I have to agree with Walt, Plus the cost is compounded by going during peak tourist season. Dont know what your budget is, but I would get a good travel book(s) on Youth Hospices for inexpensive but safe places to stay.. ..some have different rules like help out with some chores or things like that others are just bunkhouse cheap places to stay. Then make a plan as to what you might want to see and where to go (a general plan is plenty for 4 months) check into buying a railpass before you leave, at least 1 of the options will suite you. With airfare and just basic needs the minumum budget would be $4000 (and I mean MINIMUM) for the first 2 months. Some planning will be need to allow yourself to relax and "Find Yourself" Good Luck.
