Eastern Road Contiki (July 2005)

Eastern Road Contiki (July 2005)

Postby Aussie2005 » Thu Mar 17, 2005 5:13 am

Hi All,

I'm in the process of finalising my trip to Europe this year but just cant decide if I should do the Eastern Road Contiki tour (Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Budapest & Poland) or if I should go solo. Would anyone have any advice about this tour? Is it a good mix of partying and experiencing cluture. I am 27 years old, and worried that I will be stuck with a really young bunch. This is my 4th time overseas, but looking for a new experience with a good bunch of people and thought Contiki would do that.. .. .. .

Any ideas????

Hello Nick!
I can empathize with your dilemma. I too am in that "transitional" age but, I must say that I decided to book the July 2nd Eastern Road departure day even after Contiki CANCELLED the tour I had already paid for! This is why:
1. Europe is extra busy in the summer, I didnt want to hassel with taking care of accomodations.
2. If for some reason the group doesnt work with for you, you can always go off on your own when you get a chance.
3. You see more in less time
4. I guess the top reason is the convenience of it all. Unless you are really up for the challenge of making your own arrangements, Id go with the tour. I hope this helps.. .. .. .
Good luck and happy travels.

Hi Nick

If age is the only thing holding you back, then I would go for the tour. I am 27 years old as well. I went on the Med Highlights tour last year. I was concerned I would be the oldest person on it. I was not! There was a good mix of ages. There were at least 15 people in my age range. I am booking again for Sept. 4th- the Greek Islands Tour. I am a year older.. ..but I am not concerned that I won't fit in. There is a good mix of ages. And if you want to get away from the group to clear your head.. ..you can. There is no need to show up at the group dinners.. ..often times we felt we could get superior food in the town for a decent value. So we would skip out . .. ..and try to mingle in the culture a little bit more.. ..ie. sit at a trattoria or a cafe.

Enjoy Your Trip!

Hey Nick, did you end up taking the Contiki last year and how was it?

I really want to do the Eastern Road trip early next year, along with Russia, somewho, so I'm gathering info and opinions at the moment.

If you can, let me know what you thought of it.. ..thanks!
