Hotel Princess, Rome

Hello,

I am taking the Jewels of Italy tour later this year.

I have read some SHOCKING reviews of Hotel Princess, the hotel in Rome that the tour stays with.

Could anyone please let me know if it is THAT BAD? Would you advise staying elsewhere and meeting the group?

Thanks!

Some travelers experience may have been less desirable than others, however, I spent the 2 nights of Leisurely Tuscany and Rome 6200 there in April 2004 and it was ok. When you're on a budget tour do you really need or expect more than a clean bed to sleep in, running water in the bath and a light breakfast? It works fine. Don't count on A/C unless you are going in July when it's REALLY hot and the "bath towels" are like table linen.

You'd never be able to get to this hotel from another one and get on the bus for your day trips, it's not worth the hassle.

I thought the Pineda Princess was worse of the 2 hotels I stayed in. The Minerva in Montecatini was very nice. All in all, I'd love to do it ALL over again! Don't sweat the small stuff!

Hotel Princess

Ji Jody,

I stayed at the Hotel Princess in Rome about 2 weeks ago as part of my Cosmos tour. In another post I stated that the hotel was nice. The room we got was not huge but compared to other rooms in Italy it was about average in size. Be prepared for the walls to be paper thin. In our room we heard the couple next door talking and on the other side of us we heard someone in the bathroom put down the toilet seat. Some on our tour complained about the construction noise. When we opened our room window we found scaffolding but fortunately we didn't hear any construction noises. The lobby is very spacious as is the dining room. We only spent one night there and for that it was fine. THe best hotel in Italy that we stayed at was called the Poppi in Venice.

Hope that helps!

Princess in Rome

We stayed at the Princess in April with Cosmos and I have no complaints at all. Our room was fine, there was construction outside on another sight but didn't notice it during the night, and we were able to use the metro to get back without too much hassel. The hotel staff were all very pleasant and helpful.
