SW - SRC

SW - SRC

Postby bardcarr » Thu Mar 10, 2005 7:09 am

I am thinking of spending four nights at SW and five nights at SRC during the same vacation (honeymoon). . I would love to hear more feedback about SRC. From what I hear it is low key and relaxing. Also Beaches Turks & Caicos is still and option. I checked on the other board and read all good things, but the kids concern me. I am going October 25th. I would love feedback on any of the things I mentioned above!

never stayed at SRC, but i did visit it for about 2 hours just a few weeks ago. trust me (well, at least in my opinion), if you stay 4 and 5 like you said, you're gonna wish you had done it backwards. whitehouse is HUGE and new and beautiful. you could spend a long time there getting everything done and enjoying the sunsets. SRC is cramped and old and less attractive (i say less attractive rather than ugly because it has nice parts, but not like whitehouse). . if i were you, splitting 9 days, i'd do like 7 at whitehouse and maybe 2 at SRC. also, SRC has (literally) concrete sand. like on the beach volleyball court, it literally hurt to walk on because the sand is only about an inch thick over top of concrete. whitehouse is either very deep or they dumped A LOT of sand there. plenty of sand to lay in, dive in, play vball in. not true at SRC. plus, SRC has all kinds of vendors haggling you and such. my vote is, actually, just to stay at Whitehouse for 9 days, but i'm like you in that i like to see more than one resort. that's why we went and checked out SRC and SMB on our way to the airport. but i wasn't impressed with either.

I think I might do them all at whitehouse. The only concern I have is I hear the swimming in the Ocean water is not that good and nor is the snorkeling. Have you heard anything about this?

yeah, we didn't snorkel. we did the glassbottom boat thing and it wasn't great. so if that's what you're going for.. ..eh? but i don't know if it's any better at SRC. we went snorkeling at SDR and there was nothing. at least at SWH there's a reef. in ochi there's nothing. so, if that's why you're going, take it with a grain of salt. trust me, i'm a beach person. the beach is immeasurably better at SWH. SRC and SMB and certainly the Inn (which are your two exchange properties at SRC) add up to about a mile of beach between the three of them. SWH alone is probably 1.5 miles long on its own. it's huge, the sand is better, the water is clear (in the morning.. ..which, granted, it's clear all day at SMB and SRC). . your choice. but SWH is brand friggin new. may wanna give it a try. all kinks will be well worked out by the time you get there.

Have you thought of splitting between WH and SDR? We really loved SDR. We aren't going to WH until November.

I'm late on this, but it might benefit others. We've stayed at SRC 5 times and SWH once.

Breakfast and lunch at SRC are consistently better and more extensive than Whitehouse. We love the layout, and the dinners are good, too (although we don't like Pavillion at all). .

SRC has rooms where you can be literally 5 steps from the water where you take a foot off the back door and go down two or three feet and just drag your lounger into the water. It is a heavenly place.

Whitehouse has a romantic feel and such a long, nice beach. Some others didn't like the Asian but we did. The restaurants are way too noisy, and that is something they need to fix.

Thanks Debbie for your input. I am going to be getting back from Iraq and going on my honeymoon to Whithouse. So it is good to hear that it is a romantic place!!

i think the noise problem in the restaurants will go down when they get curtains in there.
