resort isn't finished. won't be finished till march 5 according to sandals and probably much later than that in my opinion. foliage is not grown in and the staff is terrible. all in all, we had a good vacation there, but the problems that exist won't be fixed by march 5.

"Won't be finished until March 5" . .. .. .. . HAH, HAH, HAH!!!

My friend, that place won't be finished until March 5 . .. .. . of 2006!! IF they are lucky.

It's a sweat-shop right now . .. .. . malfunctioning EVERYTHING, and "restaurants" that offer meals they CANNOT deliver (they run out of stuff before the 3rd table is served). .

The pool areas in our building looked were still under construction . .. .. . and try to get those little drink machines & popcorn doo-dad's to work before noon ??? FORGET IT . .. .. . the electricity only works when it FEELS like it.

I've got digital photos of our SOAKED clothing . .. .. . from our leaking AC unit in the room to post at www.chirs-n-cheryl.com. . Check back soon . .. .. .

Or hey, take a chance. But bring your Boy Scout uniform.

wow dude. chill a bit. all i said was that was when they said the soft opening would be over. and besides, i said it'd be a lot longer than that before all the creases were ironed out. you got a free trip. they told you it wasn't 100% before you ever left and you had the option to go elsewhere, right? calm down. it'll be fine in a few weeks. it's IRIE mon! though, agreed, $5K is too much for Sandals. try shopping around.

"They Told You It Wouldn't Be Ready" - NOT!!

Postby JED » Mon Mar 07, 2005 4:31 pm

The word my travel agent got was that they were open and ready for business. NO word whatsoever was EVER given to my travel agent about anything being unfinished. She also never got a phone call from anyone about the "free trip" . .. .. . it wasn't until we were on the plane heading toward Jamaica and ran into other people going to SWH that we learned of the "free trip". .

And as far as chilling . .. .. . I stand by every word of my previous post. I've got digital photos of the mess the AC made in our - and of my wife's ruined dinner clothing.

Sorry pal . .. .. . can't chill when I've been "stiffed" by an operator that I had once held in high regard.

Fool me once, shame on you . .. .. . fool me twice, shame on ME!

Sandals should have called you, as well. not your travel agent. everybody we talked to while we were down there at SWH said they had been called by Ingrid and everyone on the message boards had been too. just surprised you didn't know before you went. sorry you had a bad experience. you still havent' said what was wrong with the free voucher. you got one, didn't you?

It seems to me JED that your travel agent should have known all this. I don't know if you have been following the various message boards online prior to your trip as a lot has been said on various boards. I am not going until November but I have been closly following what has been said on this and other boards. I had heard about the soft opening, that there was still lots of construction going on at the resort and about the vouchers. This doesn't necessarily make it right that you were not notified as there are many people who do not check the internet or even know about the boards. That is why you use a travel agent. They should be up to date on what is happening. I would also be upset at your agent.

llund is right, your travel agent had/has a duty to know about the resorts he/she sells. So does the tour operator the travel agent bought your "vacation from.

My trip is not until April, and I did not qualify for the free week. If I did , I would have happily accepted any & all inconvience.. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..but since I am not being given a free trip, and I believe Sandals has too much work to do to ever be "ready" for my April vacation, I cancelled my Whitehouse trip and opted for another resort. It's all in what you were expecting. I think you should get that free week, it will take the sting out of your awful trip.. .. .. ..and you can use it at ANY Sandals property. That's really cool.
