During my employment for about 3 yrs, i have involved with so many women and some of them even had romance with me, i was blessed with so many beautiful women, i'm now working on land here in US, but i'm having such a difficulties to get any women for a date, unlike onboard the ship where getting to know a beautiful women was such an easy task, i want to know why ? is it because, once pax get back home, there are alot of problem with them, paying bills etc etc

Romance on the Ship

I will try to explain it to you as I am one of the passengers who has met someone on HAL and attempted to continue the romance after the vacation. On the ship, I am on vacation. There are none of the day to day pressures and responsibilities I have at home. You can contribute all your time and energy on the "relationship" there. However, once I return home to the everyday problems, responsibilities, etc., there is little time to commit to a long distance relationship. My romance was also with crew of a different nationality which brings all new problems.. ..ie immigration and him coming to visit and/or work in the US. We remain great friends today, but it just didn't work. Also, on the ship, you were in your element and are a different person than on land. What I mean by that is the crew are very confident and take control on the ship. You can do everything to show the woman a good time. You know the ports and where to go. When my friend was off the ship and at my home, it was totally different because now I am the one in control and having to take charge. Rather than a man to protect me and watch over me, I suddenly felt like the adult or the one who had to handle everything. I hope this makes sense. I was actually on the Rotterdam in October 2002 when I met this guy so you may know him.

you're absolutely correct, but, i actualy had a couple of decent relationships off the ship and living with her for quite awhile and unfortunately couldn't continue the relationship for some reasons.. .. . but, knowing so many great american people onboard the ship was priceless, by the way, i might know the guy you mentioned, since i was a very socialize person on the ship and this went even further beyond the crews themself and that was how i met and got close with many pax and that also made me feel so happy and enjoyed my time on the ship eventhough the work was so very hard, 12-14 hrs a day, if i just work and work only, i must've been died right now.

Rotterdam

Postby cruzqueen » Sun Feb 06, 2005 9:19 am

The bartender I was seeing for a couple of years was Loderick (Derick). . I met him, Rico, and Jovilyn (Jovi) when they were working in the Crows Nest on the Rotterdam. I was one of the youngest people on the Northeast cruise and at night after dinner, I'd be the only one in the Crows Nest. Derick & Rico would show me magic tricks and poor Jovi was bored with them since she had seen them a million times. Derick and I are still friends and I cruised with him on the Zuiderdam and Statendam and he came to my home for awhile after his contract before his trip home. If you want to email me, I can try to explain better the problems in general, which I'm sure anyone could tell you really.. .. ..long distance and the demands of the ship. I'll be on the Zuiderdam in 2 weeks and can't wait! :P misscruzqueen@aol.com

Hi Cruzqueen!
I KNOW RICO & DERICK!! I was on the Rotterdam 6/02. Also saw Rico on the Maasdam later (12/03 ?) Both are very sweet guys.
Do you think that many of the Crew get involved with passengers like Stivoz? I know that there are romances between Crew and wondered it it happened between Crew & passengers.
You are probably back from you Zuiderdam cruise by now; did you have a good time? Do you cruise alone? Do you know where Rico & Derick are working now?
I'm on the Maasdam 5/1. I hope it is all fixed by then; there has been a lot of talk about things breaking.
