Who to book side trips with!

Hello Everyone,
We are getting down to less than 5 weeks, and were with our friends last night that are going with us. We were talking about what to do when we get to SDR, and I know someone has said of a company to book your tours through. Please let me know the name so I can start working on this. Anyone else going to be at SDR March 5th - 12th?

Definitely e-mail Belinda at a-z planners. If you are at SDR,ask for Oscar to be your guide. You cannot go wrong! I got Oscar's name from recommendations on a "cruise" board when we were in Jamaica on a cruise. When we stayed at SDR, we hired him one day to take us to Port Antonio and rafting on the Rio Grande River. The next day, he picked us up for a 1/2 day visit around Ocho Rios-climbing Dunns River Falls, sightseeing, Fern Gully, Margaritaville and shopping. Also, if you go to climb the falls, go in the afternoon as it is less crrowded. The mornings are crowded with the cruise passengers. Also, ask Oscar to get your own private guide to take you up the falls. It is more fun! Both times we climbed the falls, we had Norman. He reminds you a lot of Bubba from the Forest Gump movie. He is great, so I would definitely ask for him. I can't speak high enough about Oscar and a-z planners. As a matter of fact, we are going to Whitehouse in Nov. and I have already contacted Belinda to see if she has a guide in that area.

Thanks Lund for the response. Is it just belinda@a-zplanners.com? I will try it and see what happens.

Here is the website:
http://www.a-zjamaicaplanners.com/

Belinda is the person who owns the company. You can contact her at:
E-Mail: info@a-zjamaicaplanners.com
Phone: +1 876.994.1960

Tell her Lori Lundgren says hi and will be contacting her about Whitehouse. I know she will be interested in finding out how you got her name. She is great to deal with. I would ask her if she can book you with Oscar as he is the best. Hope it works out for you. I was happy with them.

driver in ocho rios

Postby honeygirlsugar » Sun Feb 13, 2005 11:17 am

The driver who took us out for 3 tours in Ocho Rios (as well as to the MB airport) was GILBERT, and his cell is: 489-1291 and his home is: 975-0749. Wonderful guy, older, wise and a VERY SAFE DRIVER (important in Jamaica). .

Has anyone heard of Mickey from A-Z? We have booked tours with them and they told us our driver would be Mickey. We will be in the Ochos Rios area.
Should I contact them back and ask for Gilbert or Oscar?
Thanks for your advice!

Never heard about Mikey. I heard about a-z from a cruise website I go on: cruisecrictic.com. You may want to go on it and go to the boards. Click on destinations and Jamaica. You may want to see if anybody has said anything about Mickey. I read so much about Oscar which is why I requested him. I do think you can trust Belinda but you may want to check it out and see if you see anything written about Mickey.

On our trip last summer we had both Mickey and Oscar (on two separate days) for our drivers. I would definitely select Oscar over Mickey. Oscar is much nicer and more knowledgeable. He made us feel very welcome and secure. He was just a really great guy. Oscar is a Jamaican with lots of knowledge to share and Mickey is a transplant from Great Britain. We liked Oscar so much that I would even recommend that you change your tour day to get Oscar if he is not available on the day that you have booked with Mickey.

If you go with Oscar tell him that Mr. Todd, Lady Ann, Mr. Tim, and Lady Karen say "hi"!!

Oscar is great and we booked him for 1 1/2 days in Jamaica. Don't forget to tell him that Lori Lundgren, along with Gary, Jeanette and Rick all say hi.

I know Oscar was doing tours on his own. I wonder if he has decided to do so and not go with Belinda anymore. He was great. He did give me his own number, but I haven't been able to find it. Belinda seems very honest so I am sure you can trust her judgement.
