Celebrity vs Princess

Celebrity vs Princess

Postby The Texan » Tue Jan 18, 2005 12:55 pm

My husband and I have only traveled on the Princess Line. We are
thinking about booking the Galazy for the 12 night cruise to the
Panama Canal. Anybody out there that can tell me if the Galazy is a
nice ship. Appreciate any help.

Galaxy

We did a 12 night cruise on the Galaxy out of Galveston & would not recommend it. tThe ship was not clean, the picture windows in the main lounge need to be replaced & the food was not as good as on Holland America. The staff in general were not overly friendly either.
We would not do a Celebrity cruise again. :( :( :(

Panama Canal Cruise

Took the Celebrity Summit out of San Diego last Oct. for 14 day Panama Canal Cruise. Would highly recommend this cruise and ship. Everything excellent. Also took Sun Princess to Caribbean this Feb. for 10 days. Ships are the same size only Sun Princess much older. No Comparison, Summit beat it by miles in all categories.

Yes - the Galaxy is a beautiful ship. The culture aboard ship is way different. It is Greek staffed and European 5-star - white glove service. There is no comparison to the Princess line. The Princess ships are newer, multinational staffed, large floating Cities, and you can get lost in the crowd.

Think Titanic, think Class. The dress up dinner nights, and onboard attire is a little more dressy than Princess or Royal Carribean. The Galaxy is an older ship, smaller, and more Europeans fly into Galveston to take it to Panama. You will rub elbows with a larger variety of guests and you won't get lost in the mob.

I work at the Galveston Cruise Terminal for both the Celebrity Galaxy, Grand Princess, and Royal Carribean's Rhapsody. I have personally cruised on all three and prefer the Galaxy. I had a balcony room on each and took advantage of everything on board (not the rock wall - I am 55) and though I had to pay more (cost of room, services, & tips) - I will repeat on the Galaxy.
