cruising the norwegian sea

our family is taking its first cruise, along with 3 other families. Any advise for us? What shore excursions are worth looking into?

Hi,
We have cruised on the Sea out of Houston 3 times and enjoyed it more each time. The crew is one of the friendliest you will find anywhere. Our favorite excursion was on the Atlantis Submarine. We are a retired couple so excursions were not a big priority. Have read the the cave tubing excursion is one of the favorites. You can download what NCL has to offer from their website. You can also type in the name of the ports and see what is available. Hope this is a help and you have a great time. When will you be going?

Land Tours That We Did:

Cozumel: Took a cab on our own to Chankanaab National Park and sent snorkeling. Then went shopping.

Roatan: Rented a driver to go around the island. They hang around the prier. General cost $20 a person and worth it. They will take you anywhere you want to go. Watch the beaches. They have sand fleas - really bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Belize: Took the City Tour/Mayan Ruins - Nice if you have never seen this before. Lots of pushy vendors at this port - watch yourself.

Cancun - Opted for an all day inclusive tour to Guarafon (spelled wrong). The best - would recommend highly if you have been to Cancun. All the water sports, activities, and drinks are included. You do need to pay for food.

The ship is great - older but an extreme value for the price. Very laid back.

Good things: Lots of chairs, shows, deck parties, host, room service, drink card. Booze on the ship is same price as the ports and you don't have to carry back on the boat. Tour coupons are fun-attend the tour overview.

So So: Casino, other food, gift shop.

Not so hot: Bingo expensive, avoid the art auction, drink vendors,
If you think you may want pictures - get the package. It seems expensive but they are outrageous individually. Make sure you attend everything, have your picture taken at each port, and do your sittings (there are two different locations at the captains dinner) and this is a great value....
