Hi,
My husband and I went on this tour in September, 2004. We had a great time. You get to see a lot in a short period. But it's not so fast that you're travelling every day, which is nice. We spent a good amount of time exploring on our own. It's also a lot less expensive that way. I suggest in London, Paris and Rome, just get on the underground/metro/subway and just go where you want to go. But in some cities we were unsure of what to see and we just stuck to the group. We also took advantage of the extra dinner tours in Italy, 'cause come on, who wouldn't. You don't just get the dinner though, you get a small tour of the area you're in, or on the tuscan dinner you get the greatest five course meal mmm.. .. . plus there's dancing (and you meet some pretty funny characters that work there). . We did the mountain excursion in Switzerland which was breathtaking, with the group. But in Venice we saved loads of money on the gondola when we haggled on our own. We just decided that if we could get to the place we wanted to see easy enough on our own(eg. tower of london, eiffel tower, louvre, trevi, pantheon, etc.) then we did it. If you've got any other questions, feel free to ask.
