I have just read about this being done to a single traveler on another tour co. Not one listed on this board.

She has bumped just 4 weeks before the start of the trip and replaced with 2 people traveling together. The tour company said they over booked. Also said it was a standard practice. She was paid in full, so that was not an issue. They are giving her a refund, but I think this practice stinks.

My questions is: As a single traveler I am thinking of booking a tour of Italy. I would hate to have this happen to me. Has anyone heard of this happening with Globus or any other tour company?

nope. i haven't heard of that happening with globus. i travelled with them as a single traveller this fall and never felt alone. hope that reassures you in some way.
