We are considering a 10 Globus tour.
However I have recently spoken with someone who advised that they were totally unprepared for the costs of tips.
Apparently every single day of the tour they were having to tip the equivalent of around $50 australian dollars.
Has anyone had a similiar experience?

Not even close! You can tip whatever you feel like but they "Suggest" 2-4 dollars a day per driver & Guide. Tip what you feel you can afford and are comfortable with at the end of the tour in a nice sealed envelope (1 for each driver &TG) so it is more like 50 aus dollars per person then per day for a short tour. Enjoy the tour and see what you have at the end.. ..lol

On a 10 day tour the tip should be around the $40 mark each to TD and driver. Taking into account tips etc daily in restaurants and to local guides, you should budget for a bit more than $50 Aus

So my understanding is that for the whole 10 day tour it might be $50-60 to each guide, driver etc but not per day.
My friend was telling me their 11 day german highlights tour cost them $500 total in these tips. They said there was enormous pressure from other members on the trip to put $50 each in to an envelope at the end of each day, and my friend just couldn't afford to put in so much!
I don't mind tipping (even though its a bit foreign to me) but my friends experience seemed a bit over the top to me.

I can confirm many of the previous responses. I simply put 40 dollars US in an envelope for the driver and 40 dollars for the tour guide and gave each one an envelope at the end of the tour. Sometimes you will need to tip a local guide, maybe 1 to 2 pounds. Hope this helps
