Drinks

Postby May » Wed Dec 01, 2004 11:15 am

I have heard I should ask for a dirty bannana, a steal bottom and a no pressure at the bar in Ocho Rios. Are there any other good drinks to request? Secondly, will they automatically be made with premium liquor or will I have to ask for it? Sorry if any words are missed spelled! I am a terrible speller!

Ask for the premium liquor. You do not always get it otherwise.

There are no banannas at the Sandals on Jamaica right now :( The entire fruit situation is pretty bad in fact.. .. . there weren't even any limes when I went last week.

I'm sorry to hear that! Does that mean the beautiful spreads of fruit for breakfast are slim pickings now? And what about the drinks:( Can they import it from another island?

Well this makes me nervous. We are going in 3 weeks and I remember the MJB's as being quite yummy. And the fruit in the morning was great too.. .. .. .. .

What are MJB's? Is that a drink?

Does this mean when I order a drink they do not have fruit to put in it. Can anyone tell me what the mini bar consist off in the room?

The mini bars we have had at sandals are pretty good. An assortment of local beer, fruit juices and soft drinks in the fridge, and countertop had an assortment of wine, a champagne that wasn't too great, bottles of rum , whiskey and vodka.. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..and once you find what you like, leave a note and they will overstock you on those items, has been our experience.

Dr Perfect- How do you know soooo much about Sandals?
May

Postby drperfect » Thu Dec 09, 2004 10:48 am

research research research.

people on here accuse me all the time of sticking my nose into questions i don't know the answer to (cuz i've only been on one Sandals trip to SDR), but fact is, i don't answer things i don't know the answer to. like "what's the food like at MoBay?" don't answer that. things like, "hey which resort is best?" i have an idea on cuz all you gotta do is read the brochures and listen to the trip reports.

so in answer to your question, a year and a half on this board has taught me all i know. stick around and pay attention and you'll have no problem.

Don't sweat it May, he really doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. For instance Doc says to my knowledge (from research alone--i've only been to Sandals) Sandals is the party place and Couples is more for the fitness types. Debbie who has been couples says "I've never heard of Couples being for fitness types except Swept Away. Believe me, you won't see too many at the gym at Couples Ocho Rios. We were there for the second time last October, and even the instructor didn't show for class, and I chased him down to try to have the class.

ah yes, the infamous "Guest" who shows his face and takes stabs at me as usual. get some cahones and sign in.

you said it yourself: i clearly stated (more than once if you go back and read it) that i had never been to Couples. if you're gonna quote me, you gotta read what i'm saying. and i said very clearly, "hey, i've never been to couples but this is what the travel books say." i have no problem admitting i was wrong there. but i also didn't say "hey, this is info you can bet on here." i told people that it was based on what i had read only. open your eyes and ears guest. i invite anyone to go back and read the post.

Noboday cares what you read in a travel book. Anybody can do that. The point of this board it to hear first hand experiences from people who have been to these places so these people can make the best decision on where to spend their hard earned money for vacation.

I agree with the above message. That guy is giving advice based on what he read in a brochure. Are you kidding me!

Whoa.. .. .. . hmmmm.. .. .
I'm not a flame fanning kinda person, but it seems to me that some of you are getting kinda picky. First hand knowledge is great, but as a newbie traveler I come here looking for information. ANY information. If someone says, "I haven't been there myself but I've read <this>. .", well then I guess I have to be smart enough to know it's not first hand info. But it's still appreciated.

I have tons of info about St Lucia now. I don't arrive there until December 26th, but if someone asks a question and I think I can help I'd still chime in and tell them what information I have AND let them know it's from research, not confirmed by a visit yet. When I get back from St Lucia I may have some insights or experiences that modify or add to the information, but I'm not going to sit here quietly and NOT take part in a conversation because I'm afraid it'll upset those folks who have actually BEEN someplace.

Interesting to note how many folks like horseback riding. The high horses seem to be affecting some with altitude sickness though. Please revert back to the friendlier place I found here back in April or so, when I started planning this trip.

Thanks

thanks yard. i was gonna argue with those guys but i'm just worn out of arguing with everybody on this board constantly. what you said was the same philosophy i had. somebody asks a question and i tried to answer it. if it wasn't from first-hand experience, then i said "hey, this is based on research" so that no one would get upset. but, alas, the "guests" who wanna post just to bother other people keep poking their noses in. i'm through with arguing this little stuff like this. take my advice if you like it, don't if you don't want to. i like cheryl's board better anyway. there's no "guests" over there.

well.. ..whoa.. ..hmmmm

So you want to get advice from someone who says "ooops I was wrong" after being corrected from someone else. I hope you don't base your travel decisions on someone who thinks he "might" have correct information because if you get to your destination and it is nothing like you thought it would be, then you don't have anyone to blame but yourself. But I don't want to fan any flames so if that is fine with you then I hope you make all the right decisions about your vacation.

maybe i'm crazy, but i almost get the feeling that "guest" is somebody i know.. ..either a registered user who doesn't want to fess up to their true feelings of disgust about me or someone i actually know. either way, guest, i don't mind a little banter back and forth about the topics and whether i know what i'm talking about or not. that's fine because it's still on topic. but keep up these mindless, accusing, for-no-good-reason shots in the dark and i'm going to start deleting them. not cuz they're against me, cuz i don't care. i mean you've got plenty that i'm not deleting. but just because they're ignorant. you wanna argue the topics, go ahead, but keep the ignorance to a dull roar, ok?

Hi Dr

Postby RubyAnn » Thu Dec 23, 2004 10:48 pm

After reading your last posting to Guest, I just wanted to say, that although I have been pretty quiet and low-key of late (personal life stories), in regards to postings on TMB or on Cheryl's, GUEST is NOT ME!!!
I know in the past (FIVE months ago,LOL NOT six!!), you and I had our 'bantering' moments, but that is way back when. I enjoy reading your postings and want to say that I applaud your efforts to always be on the lookout to help your fellow traveler.
And I also think it is GREAT that YOU can say "ooppss, I was wrong"! It makes you a bigger person all the way around in my humble opinion! A person who is secure enough (the bigger cajones! ) can say 'my mistake'. . We should ALL be able to step up to that plate!
And I think you may be on to something regarding Guests postings: they are really getting personal.. ..maybe it is someone you know???
Anyways, keep up the dull roars! 8)
