Globus Tours

Postby Caitie » Sun Nov 14, 2004 9:12 pm

I'm about to take my first Globus tour, a Christmas Markets tour to Bavaria and Alsace. The way I'm reading the brochure, it appears that Globus doesn't offer any optional excursions, such as Trafalgar does. Am I reading this correctly? If not, what sort of optionals can I expect on this tour? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Caitie,
I did a Globus tour earlier this year (Traditional Grand European). . If I recall correctly, the brochure did not list the optionals, however there were numerous offered. I don't know how Trafalgar works, but with Globus the director selects from a list of optionals and you sign up for them on day 1 of the tour.
If you go to globus.com.au (no doubt there is a US equivalent) you can find your tour, and a full list of possible optionals is available (as a side menu). .

Regards,
Brendan.

Thanks to all who replied. I just got my tour docs yesterday and the optionals are exactly as Guest listed. But there seem to be more choices than we have evenings avaialbale for, so I assume we won't be offered all of them. Thanks again, everyone.

I just spoke with a travel agent yesterday about Globus. He confirmed their are numerous optional excursions and is getting me the information. Too bad Globus just doesn't include this in their brochure.

PS - the agent also said to beware of Trafalgar as they have the reputation of cancelling tours more than other companies.

The tour I went on had a list of optionals but they weren't all offered. I believe the tour director has discretion on which will be offered.

I'd assumed that we could chose A or B or C. We could chose whatever we wanted of course, but they were set up so that we could go on all of the ones that they offered during our tour. There were never two or three offered at the same time.
