Sandals Grande Ocho Rios

Postby may-may » Mon Nov 01, 2004 1:27 pm

I've read everyones reviews and I must say I am beginning to become a little frightened. I have a trip booked for Jan 6-Jan 10 in a Grande Beachfront Room at the newly renovated Sandals Grande Ocho Rios. Can anyone offer any advise for me to make the best of my trip? Is anyone else going during that time? Has anyone been recently?

Read my message under Sandals Ocho Rios post, it may ease your concerns. I have been to 5 different Sandals and have yet to be disappointed.

I am also booked at the Manor House. Although we can have fun at the pool too we will be going o the beach most of the time. Can someone who has been there please give me a realistic measurement as to how far way it is? I have heard anything from 6 to 15 minutes. which depending on how fast you walk is 1/2 mile to 1 1/2 miles. Thats a long ways. Dr. Perfect, I though I read that you were there and I read you would recommend staying there but thats already a done deal so could you remember and give and indication of distance wether it be in city blocks , yards, I dont's care I just don't want it it miles.

I too am anxiously awaiting this response. What about the shuttles, are they golf carts or buuses or what and how often do they run?

sorry, no i've never been to SOR. i've been to SDR! to my understanding, it's across the street from the manor house, but since you want an actual measurement, i won't guess. sorry.

Is the road we are talking about crossing the main road that takes you to Ocho Rios? If it is that was a mighty busy road from wha I recall.

From what we were told this past April (from a SOR staff) when we were there, a pedestrian bridge is suppose to be built. Would be curious to know if one was built

I've been to the Ciboney/Beaches section of the newly combined Sandals resort. I stayed in the villas. The walk from the villas to the Manor House is about a 5-10 minute walk. A shuttle bus to the beach (form Manor House) runs about every 10 minutes and only takes a few minutes. You can also walk to the beach, and that takes about 10-15 minutes. They built a walkway so no need to cross the street. It is a very safe walk. Obviously a much easier walk from the Manor House to the beach since it's all downhill. I've done the walk back to the Manor House and it's not bad, but you will be looking for a Red Stripe when you get to the Manor House after the uphill walk :D

Hey May-May,

I think I've seen you post on Trip Advisor forums as well. I'm at Sandals January 2-9. We should meet up for a drink. I'm not familiar with the Sandals section, but am with the Beaches section. How the 6th at the Manor House (up on hill) piano bar at 6:00 p.m.?
