Cash needed for 22-day European Tour

Cash needed for 22-day European Tour

Postby kmschoet » Mon Aug 09, 2004 9:53 am

My brothers and I are sending my parents on a European tour for their 50th wedding anniversary. They will be visiting Austria, Belgium, England, France, Germany, Holland, Italy & Switzerland. We are trying to help them determine how much cash they will need (versus credit cards). . Can anyone help with approximately how much cash would likely be needed for lunch, dinner & incidentals assuming they always use a credit card when it is accepted? Are the % of restaurants and shops that accept credit cards comparable to those in the United States? Also, how readily available are ATMs in these countries so they don't carry more cash than necessary?

Thanks for any advice!

How much cash?

I would advise them to take very little cash and rely on ATM's ( which are plentiful throughout Europe ) and credit cards. Lorraine
