We took the tour two years ago, in August. and enjoyed it very much. The highlands were beautiful and the heather was in bloom. I especially liked the Isles of Mull and Skye. Since taking the tour I've started painting and I'm using many of photos I took as subjects of my pictures.
Our tour director was great and we did not have any problems. The Loch Ness option was not that great and given the choice I would pass on taking it.
We booked the Military Tattoo through our travel agent and attended the performance while in Edinbugh. The hotel that we stayed at was within walking distance of Edinburgh Castle. The Arts Festival is also going on in Edinburgh in August. We missed the Highland Evening option because it conflicted with the Tattoo. We took in the Highland Evening on a previous tour and it is worth seeing. The disavantange of taking the tour in August is you miss the spring flowers
The food was good, but it wouldn't win any awards. I don't think Scots are noted for their cooking.
Globus also offers a tour of the Highland and the Shetland and other outer islands. One day, we may decide to take the tour.
I hope you enjoy the tour as much as we did.
