Sandals Ocho Rios question

Postby Sweetpea » Mon Jul 26, 2004 8:53 pm

Just wondering if anyone knows when the resort is supposed to have 8 functioning restaurants. I saw on their website they will have them soon but not sure when! TIA!

Sandals Ocho Restaurants

Postby justweenus » Fri Jul 30, 2004 3:20 pm

Hey SweetPea, I'm headed for SOR in Sept and from the research I've done on various sites it doesn't look like the 9 restaurants will be available until Dec. 2004. The rates then increase also, but not terribly. 15 room categories will be offered. Wow. Too many choices! I'm hoping that the process speeds up and will be available when we get there. Have a great day.

Can anyone who has stayed at Beaches Grand Sport tell me how far it is from the Manor House to the beach? I Booked the Manor house and afterward reads somewhere it was a ten minute walk (ugh!) to the beach. I chose this room because it was cheaper than the Ochi Rios (Riviera) rooms by the beach and also because it has been remodeled (hopefully all rooms on the Grand Sport side). . I also read somewhere that the beach is across the road. Is the raod that they are talking about the busy road that takes you to Sandals Dunns river? I remember when we stayed at SDR and went golfing we stopped at SOR to pick up people, I did not notice a resort on the mountain side of the road. Is this where beaches was? I hope not!! Please help somebody!!! The map on the new Sandals site is incomplete. It is completetly ambiguous!!

The resort you saw on the hillside was BGS. From the Manor House they have several buses that take people back and forth from the beach - about every 5 - 10 minutes. We went with a group of 6 couples and none of us had a problem with this. We were booked to stay in the Manor House but were actually upgraded to a villa. From the looks of the pictures they have done some extreme renovating. If we weren't going to WH in March we would definitely be going back there.

Man that -, my wife is going to be pissed. How long of a walk is it? Do you think I should re-book?

RE: Beaches Grande Sport and beach

I stayed at Beaches Grand Sport last year. Their is a shuttle every 10-15 mintes to the beach. It was not a problem. The Manor house is the closest you can be to the shuttle. It was the hub of everything. We stayed in one of the Villas ( Bascially a 4 plex) on the Hill. Great Views from there. I would try my best at a last minute upgrade to one of those when you get there. The Manor House seemed to busy to us. Also you get your own pool if you are in one the many villas they have there. in summary, beach no problem and upgrade for a better more relaxing expierence, We are going back Sept 23rd. This time Sandals Ocho Rios.
