SANDALS WHITEHOUSE

Postby drperfect » Sat Jul 10, 2004 9:31 am

So I've been playing on this website for about a year (as is shown in my number of posts) and I know that certain resorts never get talked about. Fortunately for me and a lot of others, we were going to SDR, so I think that one has gotten more attention than any other on this board. So has SRC. But the Bahamian and the St. Lucia resorts get no love.. ..nobody wants to reply about them! Not to mention that I don't think I've ever even heard the name Antigua uttered here. Well, my wife and I just booked our next vacation to the new Sandals Whitehouse in South Jamaica. Looks incredible, but there's not much info on the internet. So I'm starting a thread for it. You hear something from your TA or online somewhere, come back and post it hear. And in the meantime, start replying to the poor folks who ask about SRB and the St. Lucia resorts!

Sandals Whitehouse Info

Postby beer234 » Sat Jul 10, 2004 5:36 pm

Ok, i've not got much but here goes. This is third hand stuff. Word from the gang at -://www ..com says that its a massive resort very spread out with the mountains fairly close to the resort. With only 360 rooms the resort is large and should not be overly crowded. The place is in such a state that its hard to tell the theme of the buildings but each has a style such as french, italian etc. Every room has some sort of ocean view which is nice. The beach is larger than Sandals Negril and fairly deep as well. The sand should be similar to what you'd find in Negril.
Here's a map of the resort. -://tropictravelonline.com/images/layout.gif

Hope that small bit helps.

Whitehouse

Postby Em » Fri Jul 16, 2004 10:46 am

Okay this is what I have found out! The resort is supposed to exceed anything Sandals has done thus far. The bus ride from the airport is 15-minutes, not 1 hour and a half. My travel agent confirmed this. The resort will be self contained with its own shops, theater, and mini golf course. Horseback riding will be included on the property grounds. The resort is already 75% finished so for those worried it won't open on time- don't. It may open early. My travel agent told me that they are finished with all of the main construction and are furnishing and painting. My agent is sending me a brochure on it that he got from a meeting- I will be happy to fax it to anyone who wants a copy!

EM: I'm not sure who your travel agent is, but it's my understanding that Sandals Whitehouse is far from being finished (I got this information from a local in Negril). . Also, there's a TA who posts on another forum. He just returned from touring Whitehouse. We're waiting on his pictures, but his first-hand description confirms the fact that Whitehouse is still very much a construction zone. The photos should be posted soon and I'm sure they will give everyone an idea of the stages of construction. (tropictravelonline . . com)

As far as being 15 minutes from the airport, well.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. . that's simply wrong. The ride will be one hour on a super good day, and a better guess is that it will take 1.5 to 2 hours. I explained this in detail in the other thread about Whitehouse.

Horseback riding is listed as a paid excursion on the Current Whitehouse information sheet that I received directly from Sandals. You may want to call them direct to confirm/deny. 1-800-SANDALS.

I'm honestly not trying to be argumentative.. .. .. .. .. .. .. . heck, I suppose I could be wrong, but I doubt it ;). .

Hope this helps!
Cheryl
Enjoy!

cheryl! wuzzup! recognized you from tropictravelonline boards. i post here but read there, too, and saw that you were booking a 21 day vacation to whitehouse. good gosh man. anyway, yeah em, you need to get a new TA cuz there is no way you can even get out of MoBay in 15 minutes. this is clear on the southside of the island. now i will say that many people told us it would take over 2 hours to get to SDR when it only took like an hour and a half, but Whitehouse is no hop skip and jump. the TA that cheryl speaks of over on the other boards does speak pretty confidently that it is still in construction and i am anxiously awaiting the pics. cheryl, if he gets them up be sure to tell us over here cuz i may not check over there as regular. good to see you. come back and post cuz we're whitehouse deficient over here.

LOL otter.. .. .. .. . Great minds think alike! I'm thinking of booking a long weekend trip in March or April just to make sure Whitehouse is THE place we want to spend 3 weeks at. Airfare is the problem :(. . Who do you book your air with if you don't mind me asking?

I have a TA that I have been working with for a while here near where I live (San Rafael, California). . But I have recently learned that there are better deals to be had. I asked A TA from another site (-://www ..com) for some rates, and the rates were pretty good and The agent was very prompt and Courteous. I have a sense of loyalty to my Original agent, even though it may cost me more money.. .. . Let me know if I can give you more info!

I was on the Sandals site and cannot get the airfare quoted yet. I looked at the Air Jamaica site and they cannot quote for October 2005 yet. Current prices are pretty high so we will take a chance if we book Whitehouse at a later date.

Sandals Whitehouse

Postby cc » Wed Jul 21, 2004 7:00 pm

We booked the last week of March 2005 for Whitehouse (reunion week). . We will be flying Air Jamaica. Airfare with them is not as cheap as it used to be, although they are having a sale for the Northeast (again). . We fly out of FLorida and you'd think it would be cheaper as the flight time is shorter - but nooo.. .. .. . Also the AJ 1st Class doubled from last year but we feel it is worth it - especially with the use of the 1st lounge at Sangster.

Whitehouse

Postby Sweetpea » Sat Jul 24, 2004 9:51 pm

I was just browsing the Sandals site today and came across the section on the Whitehouse!!! I'm REALLY excited at the possibility of going there. I'm not sure when we would want to book though, might hold off and not go until Nov. (we're going to Disney in Sept so I don't want to travel again THAT soon as I hate to fly!) Congrats to all of you who have already booked a trip!

Booking with confidence

Postby ChrisH » Sun Jul 25, 2004 10:50 am

We booked the Whitehouse as soon as it went on sale in the UK.

Having been to Antigua and the Grande St Lucian, I've got every faith that Sandals will get it right first time.
So far We've found nothing to match them.
