I am thinking of going for the Globus German Highlights 12 day trip this August, and would love to hear experiences and suggestions from people who have been on the trip before. I just wanted to get a general feeling of how the trip is like before committing myself.. ..this is my first time on such a trip.

You'll definitely enjoy this tour. I took it last year (September 2003). .
There are lots of picturesque towns and interesting cities in Germany.
I go to Europe a lot, and I have also taken many tours with Trafalgar and Globus. You might be a little short on time because there is a certain
schedule/itinerary to follow, as compared to doing it on your own.
However, I still find it very enjoyable and convenient.. ..and a lot of fun!
I highly recommend it. Hope to hear some feedback from you
after you've taken this tour.

Thanks for your encouraging reply.. ..i had some speculation as to how good the tour would be, but sounds like it is going to be fun. Do you have any advice regarding currency and cash while travelling in Germany.. ..should I bother to get travelr's checks or is a VISA card and some cash sufficient?

ATM for cash Visa/Master Card for bigger purchase's . . Travelers checks are more hassle than they are worth, at least they are to me. ATM give the best rate exchange and Visa/MC give the lowest exchange rate available (I think) without "Exchange Fee's" unless it is a cash withdrawel on the Visa. Carr enough cash to get you (group) through 2-3 days and you will always find an ATM during that time to replenish your reserves.
