We are driving from Florida, to Playa Flamingo, Costa Rica around the middle of July & would like some advise on routes and distances and anything else that would make this trip a pleasure. We also have a small dog that will be travelling with us in the Yukon GMC.

You might consider staying on the Pan-American Highway once you get to it in Mexico.
