SDR Meals

SDR Meals

Postby illiniturf » Mon May 24, 2004 8:13 am

I've got a quick question about meals at SDR. The brochure and website say that for the Internationale Room, Windies, and Ristorante d'Amore that "reservations are not required". . Does that mean that they don't give out reservations at all OR does it just mean that they are not required, but that you can still make them if you want?

Thanks!!! 62 days and counting to SDR!!!

Unfortunately (well FORTUNATELY for us at the time, but unfortunate cuz I can't give you very accurate info now), we were there at a very dead time for the resort. This was awesome because we got to meet everybody really easily as there were so few people. By the end of the week, it was getting crowded and it was so much less enjoyable. But I digress. You cannot make reservations at those three restaurants, but what I was going to say concerning all that first rambling is that we had absolutely no problem just walking in and getting a table at any of these resorts. The Ristorante and International are much smaller than Windies, so they'll probably have a waiting line at crowded times for the resort, but Windies is huge. Maybe 50-60 tables. Can't imagine having to wait there. The reason the Kimonos has reservations is because they have different seating times, like 6:00 6:15 6:30, etc etc. The others don't. You just go whenever. You may just want to play those by ear. The Italian stays open an hour later than the others, though. So may want to think about that. Hey and you are my kind of traveler, illiniturf. You think of every question. Go back and look at my old posts prior to January 5, I was the same way! Keep firing away and we'll fire back!

drperfect - thanks for the response!

I guess I am just a "detail person" and so I'm trying to think of all these things ahead of time so I don't get surprised. When we went to Sandals St. Lucia about 6 years ago, if I remember correctly, all the restaurants required reservations. So this sounds like it will be a change for us (No problem, mon!). . I want to have a relaxing week where once I get there I don't have to think about much except sun, drinks, golf, and turning the pages in a good book, so . . . . . . I'm trying to figure out all the details ahead of time.

I'm wondering what the "crowds" will be like in July. Got any ideas? I've got two different schools of thought. The first being that it is the heat of the summer and so it won't be that crowded. The other being that the rates are lower in the summer and so it might entice more people to come during that period. Oh well, nothing I can do about it! I'll just have to wait and see.

61 days and counting to SDR!!!

I know that the reason it started getting crowded near the end of our stay was because we were there the week before SDR's Anniversary Week (January 5-12 and following with Anniversary Week beginning on January 11th). . At that time, they had a Mr. and Mrs. Sandals competition which got lots of prizes and they said they only did it twice a year -- once for Anniversary Week and once for July 4th. So if you're going around July 4th you may have big crowds. Other than that I don't know.

We were there in November and waited about 1 hour for the Italian Restaurant. But.. .. ..at there was the bar just outside so it did not make a difference. No problem with the other restaurants, though. The resort was full when we went. Don't know what it will be like in July but it will probably be crowded because summer is a time of weddings and honeymoons. Just relax, have a drink, and have fun.

It definately could be crowded because of honeymoons. The first time we went was on our honeymoon and it in the month of August and the resort was pretty full. I agree to relax and don't worry about waiting if you have to for dinner. You are on vacation and everything is Iire!
