Going on a 12 night cruise Aug. fro Barcalona. Reading a lot about dress codes. Is it as strict as they say. Used to wearing shorts and sandels in California. Can you still wear what you want on shore excursions or will the fashion police be as mad as we hear.

We had two men at a table for 8 that did not wear jackets or ties to Formal Night. We saw shorts, t-shirts, tank tops (the tour guide even) and sandals in a church.

You can wear whatever you like on excusions, to breakfast, and lunch. Dinner in the main dining room long pants, then depending on the night the appropriate shirt. Casual night is a collared shirt, and in-formal a dress shirt and tie. Formal nights you don't have to eat in the main dining room, but you won't want to miss out on the food those nights. A dark suit or tux on formal night is the common thing you will see. Or at least a blazer jacket. You may feel out of place without it. Plus they have formal pictures those nights and they turn out so nice. Good Luck
