Did you book with Globus already? Your trip booklet (with your itinery) will tell you what is appropriate. Anyways.. ..you do not have to tip the hotel staff, as your tour director will do that. At the end of the trip you (if you want to) tip your guide, driver, and the driver's helper (he mostly helps you in and out of the bus and takes care of your luggage). . Depending on where you go the average is abuot $2-4/day/person, more if you want to. And they almost always prefer American Dollars, but you can tip in local currency or cashier's check.
So for my 11 day trip I tipped the tour director, bus driver, and the driver's helper $30 each.
OH! In some countries, like Morocco, the law stipulates that the tour group has to have a national guide in addition to the tour director. Your national guide would be tipped too. And sometimes you will get a local guide, who will know more intimate details and more knowledge about the city/site you're visiting.. ..they typically meet you at the site, your tour director will introduce him/ her, they give you the guided tour then they leave. When I remembered to, I tried to tip that person as well.
JimC wrote:The Globus brochures, unlike cruise line brocuhes, mention nothing about tipping. Do you tip the guide and driver separately? Do you tip daily or at the end of the tour? How much is the customary tip?
