| My husband and I are considering taking a cruise on the Constellation in Jan. 05 for our anniversary. We are looking at the trip that leaves from San Juan, has anybody done this trip? and what did you think? |

I just got back from this cruise last Saturday. What would you like to know? Is this your first cruise?

Hi,
The constellation is a very nice ship. It won the best cruise ship award from Conde Nast for 2003. It is tastefully decorated and was a good size.
The ports were good. Being a southern carib cruise it is busy. I originally booked this cruise partly because I wanted to go to St. Lucia. As you prob know St. Lucia and St. Martin were removed from the itinerary. I wasn't too pleased with that but the ports we did go to were very good. Grenada was excellent (I suggest the tour with Mandoo) and the worst port was Casa de Campo, D. .R.
I did not take any excursions with the cruise ship. This was our 4th cruise and we usually do our own thing. Taxi, local buses, etc. The excursions with the ship are very costly.
Having done a lot of research and having been on several cruises before, there were no surprises with this cruise. Everything was handled well and things went very smoothly.
Celebrity is branded as a higher, more luxurious line than the other mass market cruise lines. Having said that, I didn't find too many differences between the Constellation and the Voyager of the Seas (RCCL) I was on a few years ago. Food was similar, service was similar. Constellation was geared more for adults (string quartet, acapella group) but the Voyager was an outstanding ship also (adult pool area, ice capades show).
Let me know if you have any more questions. |
