Solo travel

I am 23 yo female planning a trip alone in June/July and was thinking of booking into the London to Athens tour with TopDeck. My fear is being stuck with a whole tour of couples.. ..can anybody put my mind at ease? Is there anybody else that is doing this tour, or has done it in the past and can let me know how it was? Also, does anyone know of alternative tour companies (apart from Contiki) that cater for under 30 travellers?

I would appreciate any thoughts! :D

Hi- you're a brave girl! I'm sort of in a similar situation. My family is going on the week disney cruise in a couple of weeks- I'm the only one who isn't married, so I sure hope there are other singles out there on my trip! I'll let you know how it goes. Go us! :D

Traveling solo

Postby hrhleg » Sat Oct 09, 2004 6:29 pm

Do not worry about a thing. I have been traveling solo for 20 years and to be perfectly honest with you, I have had more fun on my own than when I travel with friends. You can do what you want, when you want.

To make sure that I am not alone all the time, I take tours. Yes, many of the people on tour are couples but there are also other solo travelers and singles. I am usually the only American traveling solo. I guess this is because the travel bug has not bit the Americans as it has Australians (most solo travelers on my tours have been Australians). .

Either way, you will have plenty of free time to meet people. I find hotel bars are full of other travelers that want to talk about what a wonderful time they are having. Being solo should not impede your travels.. ..it will only force you to find the extroverted self you never knew you were.

I suggest taking Cosmos tours because the price is less expensive than other tours therefore, younger people use them. The average age is approx. 40.

Have a great trip!!
