Contiki for non-party goers?

Contiki for non-party goers?

Postby guest » Wed Mar 31, 2004 10:39 am

I am planning on booking the Contiki Eastern Road tour, but I am worried about Contiki's reputation for being a tour company for party animals. I am 30, will be travelling on my own the first weeks of August, and I would like to get some sleep a couple of the nights. Don't get me wrong - I love to go out. I just don't want to be surrounded by a bunch of fraternity boys and such. Can anybody tell me what their experience has been? Will there be some fun but down to earth adults on this trip at this time of year?

I west on the Eastern road trip in May 2002 (I was 30 at the time) and it had the least party type people of any contiki I've been on. Average age was 26 and they were into the history and culture. We did go out a couple of nights and have a good time, but other nights were more laid back. So you should be safe. :D

I've gone on two Contiki Tours. You'll find that it is rare for people to party hard every night after sightseeing all day from the early hours. It will come in waves, some nights lots go out while others everyone turns in early. The important thing is to get a good roommate that is respectful. Normally the revelers either leave the hotel and go out or go to the hotel bar. Most all of the hotels that I went to had the rooms far from the hotel bar. Nobody in my experience made loud noises or throw parties in their hotel rooms. So if you need some peace and quiet, normally you'd find it in your room.
