Can I sneak booze aboard?

Can I sneak booze aboard?

Postby Newbie » Fri Mar 05, 2004 8:43 pm

:?:
This is my first cruise and my girl and I are trying ot figure out if we can get any bottles aboard easily so we can save a little money on drinks. Is this an easy/common thing to do or should we not bother? Any other tips would be very helpful.
thanks!

Just pack your booze in your suitcase, wrapped in clothes. Don't try to carry it on board, they will take it.

As well you can buy a bottle of booze in port and the pour in in a sport bottle or even an empty water bottle before you get back on the ship. Any other bottle would do the trick. Gatorade, mouthwash whatever. Trust in this.. ..I work on cruise ships. I give this advice all the time

yes agree with other comments given here although don't be too put off by teh idea of buying booze on board unless you are a heavy drinker prices are reasonable. There is a bar fridge in your stateroom but mixers are a bit difficult to come by with out looking suspicious

I just got back from a cruise and had a bottle of brandy removed from my suitcase :( . . My advise is to pour it into a mouthwash bottle or something similiar to avoid confiscation. Enjoy the cruise.

Sneaking booze?

Even in a water bottle, or mouthwash bottle, can't they tell by the color or the wine or liquor that it's in the "wrong" bottle???

Booze on board!

Postby Shirley » Thu Jun 02, 2005 10:29 am

I have been on about 16 cruises. I like my Baily's while getting ready for dinner each night but do not like the high prices they charge for drinks on board. Few ships I find let you buy your liquor on board and consume it on board. I believe it was NCL that let us do this once!

I myself have purchased a travel canteen. It comes in various sizes and has a screw top on it. It is made of a very think clear plastic of some sort. I put two bottles of Bailys in one bottle then for safe keeping I vaccum pack it with a food saver bag. Then I put it in the middle of my clothes in the suitecase so that it is protected all the way around.

We end up drinking it all so we have an empty canteen coming home. The canteen depending on the size is about $13.00 each and is reusable. You just rinse them out and keep them open to completley dry out. I found mine at a travel store that is no longer open. But my daughter found hers online and she does the same thing. We have one for Bailys and one for wine.

My friends bring theirs on board with those watter bottles that have a sleeve that covers the water bottle and you can carry it around. They pack them in zip lock bags in their luggage making sure they have lots of padding around them.

Before you check your luggage in at the pier before going onto the ship be sure to LOCK your luggage. Traveling with the airlines you are not suppose to be locking your luggage these days. But going onto a cruise ship you can for now.

Hope this helps.

If you need any other pointers, please send me an email.

P.S. ANOTHER VERY IMPORTANT POINT! CROSS PACK WITH THE PERSON YOU ARE TRAVELING WITH. IN CASE ONE OF YOUR SUIT CASES IS LOST YOU STILL HAVE HALF YOUR CLOTHES FOR THE TRIP! SLIT ALL YOUR CLOTHES EVENLY DOWN TO UNDERWEAR, SHOES AND FORMAL CLOTHES.
